Cultural Arts Center
The Yadkin Cultural Arts Center opened September 18, 2010 just shy of one year from the date renovation began on the historic Whiff's Restaurant building in downtown Yadkinville. More than just bricks and mortar, the YCAC is a focal point of the new countywide vitality that celebrates our state's rich cultural and artistic heritage. It is a living, breathing, roll-up-your sleeves, get involved, community center connecting people to the arts and to one other.
The tall glass tower entry to The Welborn Gallery infuses the gallery with natural light. Reclaimed barn wood from a North Carolina tobacco barn warms the floor and doors. The Welborn Gallery was made possible by a generous gift from the Marion and Jewel Welborn family.
Pictured here: Winter Heat, an exhibit of oils and collages by artist Karen Breit. The Gallery showcases the regional talent so prevalent in this former tobacco-intensive county.
The Yadkin Arts Council hosts regional, state and national touring exhibits, such as the Exquisite Miniatures show criss-crossing the country from 2011 thru 2013.
The Center has become a hub of activity for all members of the community, young and old. Pictured here are Yadkinville Elementary Students on a visit to the Center to tour the art exhibits in the cafe and the Welborn Gallery, learn about the history behind the wall mosaics and fountains and watch the artists at work in the YARD.
