Artful Concepts Glass Studio allows Jody’s love of glass to be expressed in both mosaics and fused glass.
I have been working with glass in the mosaic form since 2001. The day I put together my first mosaic – I was hooked. I think part of my love for mosaics comes from my younger years when as a child I would sit with my grandmother at her quilting frame for hours watching and “helping” her on her current quilt. There is really no limit to color and design in stained glass and no two pieces are ever the same. The variety and texture of the glass make for the perfect palette from which to work.
Two years ago I had the opportunity to apprentice with a glass artist that was wanting to retire. Sammi taught me all she knew and then sold me her sheet glass and tools so that I could forge on. I love fusing because it affords me a much more immediate result than the mosaics do.
My studio is located on the Plaza of the Yadkin Cultural Arts Center at what is known as The YARD (Yadkin ARts District) in Studio F. I was the first artist to move into one of the studios and I am thrilled at being a part of this growing and thriving “art vibe” that we have created here.
I offer affordable workshop classes with flexible schedules so check out my website for more information.
