During the summer months I look out of my studio windows and enjoy the birds that are darting in and out of the trees and all of the beautiful blooming plants. In the winter months I can see the beauty of the tree branches without their foliage. Each day makes nature my constant companion and inspiration for my work. I like to transform the peace that nature provides into my work and I do so by creating patterns with trees, flowers, and wildlife from the clay. I then chose soft glazes to compliment my work and often I will layer the glazes finding that this process adds yet another aspect of peacefulness for me and my work.
After receiving a BS Degree in Commercial Art from the University of Central Missouri I studied oil portraiture at the Minnesota River School of Fine Art. When my interests turned toward clay I studied at the John C. Campbell Folk School, Mitchell Community College and the Sawtooth Center for Visual Art. I am a founding member of the Little River Gallery in Sparta, NC, and I currently hold memberships with the Yadkin Arts Council, the Yadkin Valley Craft Guild, the Winston Salem Crafts Guild, and Associated Artists of Winston Salem.
