Welcome to the Yadkin Arts Council
and Yadkin Cultural Arts Center
The Yadkin Arts Council owes its beginning to a small group of dedicated local people with a common desire to promote the visual and performing arts in their rural community, and eventually, to find a permanent home for the arts. The latter would take some time, 34 years. During those years YAC has been housed in a number of unusual buildings, including a freezer locker.
Responding to the changing needs and broadened scope of its community, the Council, after a four year capital campaign, transformed a historic landmark building in downtown Yadkinville into a 10,000 square foot state-of-the-art cultural center, the YCAC.
The mission of the Yadkin Cultural Arts Center is:
- To build community and exposure to the arts for all people
- Attract new residents
- Play a crucial role role in economic development
- Grow social capital and cultural tourism.
