A working artist colony
YARD is an acronym for Yadkin Artists Residing Downtown. The YARD studios face the beautiful Cultural Arts Center outdoor plaza and fountains. Each of the studios feature a window wall looking out onto the plaza and stroll way.
YARD provides collective yet self-defined and affordable working studio space for regional artists. The YARD studios have been fully renovated and include individual rest rooms, utility sinks and storage closet. The artists may decorate the studios to their liking.
The two single studios measure 14' x 30'. The two double studios measure 36' x 30'.
The YARD studios are open to the public for "walk-ins" according to the artists schedules. OPEN signs in front of the studios invite visitors to drop in and meet the artists and watch them work.
In Studios A&B you can explore the varied textile work of artist Lisa Drum.
Studio C is the YARD gift shop, offering the works of artist members.
Studio D is the mosaic studio of artist Jody Pounds.
Studios E and F offer artistic flex space opportunities for artists and craftsmen. Click on the link below to learn more about this exciting studio space.
Artist members of the Yadkin Arts Council and YARD resident artists may offer their work for sale at the YARD Gift Shop, which is rerloacting to Studio C. A re-opening Open House is set for Friday, May 3rd. In the meantime the shop is open.
YARD artists are fully integrated with events and workshops at the Cultural Center and offer classes to the public. Studio tours help to cross-promote cultural tourism in the Yadkin Valley region. And YARD is only a few steps away from The Third Branch Cafe.
Artists may apply for a space in the YARD either individually or as a group.
We are accepting applications at this time.
Applications and work samples will be reviewed by the Yadkin Arts Council committee.
