I began making pottery over 15 years ago when I took classes at the Sawtooth Center for Visual Arts in Winston-Salem. Beginning with thrown pieces, I soon moved to hand built pieces of my own designs.
I enjoy designing each piece, often using hand-carved stamps and a variety of texturing techniques. Though many creations are functional, I also create pottery as decorative art. Sometimes I make pieces in a series based on one basic design; recently creating a series of prayer towers
A few years ago, my husband, Bob, who is a woodturner, and I began to sell our work together as The Wood ‘n’ Potter. We currently sell our artwork at a number of arts and crafts shows throughout the area, and The Coffee Mill in Lewisville, NC.
All my pottery is food safe and can be put in the microwave, oven, and dishwasher. The majority of my glazes are hand mixed by my husband and me in our studio, providing unique coloring and textures.
We are both artist members of the Yadkin Arts Council the Winston-Salem Crafts Guild.
