Kathy Pruett

Artist bio

Kathy Pruett moved to Mount Airy, NC shortly after earning her degree in music education from Lenoir Rhyne University. She is currently working as organist and choir director at Grace Moravian Church.

For many years, Kathy has enjoyed arranging flowers for community events, special occasions and her church. Pulling blooms and greenery together for an arrangement somehow cultivated a desire to try painting them. She explored many mediums before settling on oils and pastels, and occasionally acrylics. She paints on a regular basis in a studio in downtown Winston Salem, with four artists who provide encouragement and advice as she continues to refine her painting “voice.” For ongoing art instruction and inspiration, she has attended workshops taught by Morgan Samuel Price, Camille Przewodek, Egi Antonaccio, Kate Worm, Andy Braitman, Lisa Boardwine, Susan Ogilvie, Lyn Asselta and Joan Fullerton. She is a member of the Associated Artists of Winston Salem, the Piedmont Pastel Society and the North Carolina Pastel Society.
