WHAT TO PREPARE:

Please review the Something Rotten! Audition Packet via the link below. The audition packet contains everything you need to know before auditioning, including: a production calendar with mandatory dates, character descriptions, links to music cuts you should prepare, links to the audition form, our rules and policies, and more!

Please use the “vocal audition cuts” link in the audition packet (or on this page) to learn the vocal audition cut for the character you want to audition for. Sheet music will be provided for you at your audition (you do not have to perform the vocal cut from memory). If you don’t have a character preference, learn whichever audition cut suits your voice the best. You do not have to prepare a monologue. You may be asked to read from the script at your audition. You will be required to learn a short dance combination to present, so wear comfortable clothes you can move in and close-toed shoes.

Please use the “audition form” link in the audition packet (or on this page) to fill out an audition form. This form contains some important questions that we need to know the answers to before you audition. If you don’t fill out the form ahead of time, you will be required to fill it out in-person at your audition.

What’s the show about?

Set in the 1590s, brothers Nick and Nigel Bottom are desperate to write a hit play but are stuck in the shadow of that Renaissance rock star known as “The Bard.” When a local soothsayer foretells that the future of theatre involves singing, dancing and acting at the same time, Nick and Nigel set out to write the world’s very first musical. But amidst the scandalous excitement of opening night, the Bottom Brothers realize that reaching the top means being true to thine own self, and all that jazz.

Something Rotten features large song and dance numbers, and a wacky cast of over-the-top characters, each with their own moment to shine. Throughout its Broadway run, the musical received a show-stopping standing ovation from audiences… in the beginning of the first act!  It’s become clear that “nothing’s as amazing as a musical,” so don’t miss your chance to audition for this history-twisting tale performed on the Willingham Theater stage at the Yadkin Cultural Arts Center.
