The Center Bistro

Join us on a Friday night and enjoy a delicious dinner, watch the live entertainment, and relax with a beer or a glass of Yadkin Valley wine.

We have free Wifi, so if you like to work through lunch but need a delicious meal away from your desk, the bistro is the perfect place! While you’re here, take in the changing art exhibits on the bistro’s Red Wall Gallery.

Upscale dining has arrived! On select Saturday nights we will be open for dinner on Saturdays from 5 – 8 p.m.  This typically occurs on nights when there is a performance in the Willingham Theater. There will be select Saturday nights when we offer upscale dining. We break out the tablecloths, lower the lights, slow things down, and create an atmosphere befitting of our resident crooner – Hunter Osborne. If you like Frank Sinatra, Duke Ellington, Tony Bennett and more, you will definitely want to join us for Sentimental Journey.

Wall Mosaics by Kevin Marion, Mosaic Creator
The mosaics are based on the historical art & culture of the Yadkin Valley region’s original inhabitants, Native Americans. Records of the very first Native Americans to inhabit the area refer to small Eastern Siouan stock tribes such as Saponi & Tutelo, as well as a tribe called the Keyauwee and others. The sun was a very important element in their cultures, hence the sun burst in the plaza pavers. All of these tribes were at some point absorbed into the Cherokee tribe. “I thought it very appropriate to use the concept of the Seven Clans of the Cherokee as the principle generator for the design.” READ MORE
About This Gallery

We feature artists from a large pool of talented artists throughout North Carolina and the Southeast to expand our own horizons and dialogue with different perspectives from our region.

The Welborn Gallery exhibits change every two months and always feature a wide variety of mediums and styles. Past exhibits have showcased woodworking, textiles, oils and acrylics, watercolor, collage, steel and glass, pottery, and furniture-making.

Explore Our Cultural Arts Center

Ninety-eight percent of the $3.6 million renovation and building costs of the Yadkin Cultural Arts Center came from individuals, private businesses, and grants. After four years of fundraising Phase I was complete, which included gutting the building and building the gallery, classrooms, staff offices, bistro, artist studios, plaza, stroll way, and fountains. Phase II was completed in February 2012 with the opening of the Willingham Theater. The Willingham Theater is the only venue for performances and films in Yadkin County.

Donate to the Annual Fund Campaign
The arts can drive economic growth, draw people together, and help express the identity of our community through creativity, diversity, and cultural variety. By actively engaging young people and adults in the arts, we ensure an unbroken thread of experience, learning, and participation from one generation to the next.
Aiming for the Mark by Heloise Christa

If you’ve visited our arts center, you’ve surely been stopped by our stunning courtyard sculpture:  Aiming for the Mark by Heloise Christa. The creator of our courtyard sculpture lived and studied at Frank Lloyd Wright’s Taliesen West. The sculpture is a modern interpretation of the classical Greco-Roman style and attempts to fuse the old and the new in both art and life.

The Yadkin Cultural Arts Center

Art in all its forms has the power to show us the world in a different light and gives us the opportunity to engage with it and learn from it. We believe it’s so important to experience art, let it challenge our own opinions, and even just be entertained by it.

  • Are you a professional artist in Yadkin County and looking for opportunities to display your work?
  • Do you need a creative outlet to relieve stress from a busy career?
  • Was your New Year’s Resolution to learn a new, creative skill like painting, theater, music?

State-Of-The-Art-Technology

In addition to ample seating, the Willingham Theater has a remarkable sound and light system, which can easily accommodate any performance required of it. Whether a musician needs merely a spotlight and proper acoustics to supplement their profound performance, or a dramatic play depends on the light and sound to create the atmosphere of an outlandish setting, our system is up to the task.

The Willingham Theater also features a 17-foot wide movie screen which is capable of showing films in Blu-Ray technology and surround sound, for an all-encompassing experience.

Portfolio Submission Guidelines for Exhibitions

Please send 5 – 7 good quality .jpeg digital images of your work. These images should be a fair representation of the work you wish to exhibit at the Yadkin Cultural Arts Center, or similar to work you intend to create for the exhibit. Each image should be labeled with the size of the piece, medium, and title.

In addition to providing examples of your work, we request that you provide us with your website with specific instructions to guide us to the selections of art you wish to exhibit.

Other information we require includes a brief description of your exhibition idea. How many art objects? Is there a theme? You’ll also be required to provide information about yourself, your exhibition experience, and your training, if any.

If you are accepted to exhibit with us, you will need approximately 25 to 30 pieces of art at various sizes. All work must be wired for hanging.
