The Welborn Gallery was named after Marion and Jewell Welborn of Boonville for the generous lead gift they made to the Center’s capital campaign. The Welborns gifted the final funds needed to close the campaign and make possible the opening of the center. The Yadkin Arts Council is proud to have a gallery that exposes residents and visitors to continual and varied two dimensional and three dimensional works of art from the large pool of talented artists residing in our creative state and the southeast.
The annual juried show Eye of the Artist held every July calls for submissions from all residents of our state 18 years of age and older. Cash prizes are awarded to first, second and third place winners. The Welborn Gallery exhibits change every two months and feature a wide variety of mediums. Some of the past exhibits have showcased woodworking, textiles, oils and acrylics, water color, collage, steel and glass, pottery and furniture-making.
The Art of Miniatures, a national touring exhibit has been an extremely popular show and returns to the Welborn Gallery for a third time in the fall of 2015. The show will feature all new works by the incredible mavens of the miniature world of art Wes and Rachelle Siegrist.
