2023 Grant Winners
Justine Luzwick (Yadkin) –Complete the setup and installation of a home pottery studio. Purchase supplies and materials and support the electrical installation of a kiln.
Kaitlyne Colbert (Surry) – Create audio / visual recordings and headshots to market artist as an opera / musical theatre singer.
Mary Ryan (Rockingham) – Paint a series of new works of 2d art on large canvases to market muralist services, skills and ideas.
Melissa Watson (Stokes) – Photography project to document NC trails, greenways and blueways to coincide with NC’s “Year of the Trail 2023” initiative.
Nicole Stockburger (Surry) – Attend the largest annual writer’s conference, AWP Conference, to connect professionally and socially with writing mentors and peers and promote her recently published poetry works.
Nicole Uzzell (Stokes) – Create a papermaking studio “on the go” to teach this medium to smaller communities, including school districts and community art centers.
Kathryn Gauldin (Rockingham) – Community weaving project that includes building easy to set up temporary tapestry looms to invite the public to participate in creating a woven tapestry.
Darrius Flowers (Stokes) – To improve his public performance and studio recording sound quality through the purchase of mixer, microphones, and cables.
